Efate Ring Road Project: SBST Test

We continue to progress on the Efate Ring Road Project with a key quality assurance step carried out this week.

On-site at Eton, our teams conducted a Single Bitumen Surface Treatment (SBST) test under the close monitoring of engineers from the Public Works Department (PWD). This lighter surface coating is applied to road sections that are not damaged and only require a single protective layer.

The test, observed by PWD engineers, was designed to ensure that all procedures respect the scope of work and standards required for the rehabilitation of Efate’s main road.

In the coming days, PBEG will carry out a Double Bitumen Surface Treatment (DBST) test in Tagabe. This more robust two-layer method will be applied to sections of road that require additional reinforcement.

Together, SBST and DBST treatments form a critical part of the road rehabilitation strategy, ensuring durability, safety, and long-term performance for the Efate Ring Road.
